    Default Resources - The List for Graphic Designers/Sig Makers etc.

    Worship me.

    Well, since this section is basically where all the graphic designers gather and post their stuff, I decided to make a list of the best sites related to graphical design and art. Like programs, tutorial, fonts, etc. I know there are more sites that could help and I plan to add others so please contribute. Point people here when they need this kind of stuff.

    Some of these links are duplicated and are planned to be removed later. This list is still under construction.

    Legend:
    * = Good Program/Resource/Site
    HT = Stands for Hosted Tutorial Meaning that many/most/all tutorials on the site are hosted somewhere else other than the site. This is listed because some of these tutorials are likely to be deleted/moved. You may also browse the site that has the specific tutorial for other ones there.

    (From my post at http://www.emuasylum.com/forums/show...795#post328795 )

    Image Editors
    * http://www.adobe.com
    Producers of:
    Photoshop/Photoshop CS - An amazing, powerful, highly-critizied, well-known, commonly used image editor. It comes packed with ImageReady, an animation program based off Photoshop. Costs some pretty pennies though. I did see $80 for PS7 on Google though. If $650 is too much for this great program, then I can't help you. *cough*P2P programs *cough* )

    Photoshop Elements - A Photoshop for the masses! Photoshop Elements provides the ease of use for hobbyists and the high-end power of Photoshop in a package 1/6 the cost of its bigger brother. Though, it doesn't has as much depth and options as the original PS (such as Blending Options, you can only use preset styles). I say, just get the original.

    Illustrator - I don't know too much personally about this program. I believe it provide better use to actual artists, not just sig makers

    * http://www.jasc.com/
    Produced:
    Paint Shop Pro (PSP) -Another highly revered Imaged editing Program which usually comes packed with Animation Shop. Not as expensive as PS, but not as good in some opinions. I think you can beta test the latest ones for free.

    http://www.ulead.com/ (Offer many programs also. I don't know how they are, but they are a somewhat popular name)
    http://www.ultimatepaint.com/ (Looks good, don't know how it is)
    http://www.gamani.com/ (GIF Movie Gear-I heard it was suggested for making animated sigs)

    * http://www.gimp.org/
    Produced: The GIMP- A FREE image editor with many features. Is open sources and has many plug-ins that can be downloaded for it. This is your best alternative to Photoshop.

    http://cinepaint.sourceforge.net (GIMP like Image Editor. Possibly by the same person(s)? Was known to be used for editing some movies frame by frame like Scooby-Doo.)
    http://www.photopos.com/ (A nice Image Editor Similar to PhotoPlus, but has features similar to PSP,PS, and TG. )
    http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/index.asp (PhotoPlus 5- A very nice free Image editing program. Give it a try.)
    http://www.zophar.net/utilities/graphics.html (Various Sprite Rippers and such)
    http://www.bakhter.com/html/main/dogwaffle.html (Nice Painting program. Give it a try).
    http://www.download.com (Huge software site. Look for Image Editing)
    http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/categories/6/ (Free Graphic Design Programs/Tools)

    Modeling/Textuing
    http://www.wings3d.com/ (Free 3D modeling software. It seemed pretty decent from what I've used)

    Assistance Programs
    Not exactly Image Editors, but they can help.
    http://spanky.triumf.ca/www/fractint/fractint.html (Fractint-Unsure how its used.)
    http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/ (Terragen- Nice Terrain Generator. I don't think you will need a superstrong computer, as you work in 2D. Try this out.)

    Others/Unsorted

    (From http://www.dcemulation.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=14208 . Some of this has been edited.)
    Image Editors

    PhotoStudio:
    http://www.arcsoft.com/
    PhotoStudio is an excellent light graphics editing program for casual editing.

    3D Graphics Programs

    3D Studio Max:
    http://www.3dmax.com/
    3D Studio Max is the most popular 3D graphics program. Its very powerful, and in turn needs a decent PC to run. It can be daunting through its multitude of abilities it has, but with some good tutorials and help it isnt difficult to get started. It costs thousands though, so unless your rich it might not be possible to own.

    g max:
    http://www.discreet.com/products/gmax/
    g max is a free stripped down version of 3D Studio Max, primarily for low polygon modelling it was made Discreet to become a popular games development medium.

    Maya 3
    http://www.aliaswavefront.com
    Many people find Maya 3D to be on par with 3D Studio Max, it is a finer organic modeller. Both have their strong points. There is a Personal Learning Edition for $5 for beginners who would like to use the program, which is extremely beneficial to anyone who cant afford the Complete at $2000, or Unlimited at $7000.

    Terragen
    http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/
    A free alternative to the choices above. As the title indicates, it only generates landscapes, but rather well for the price. Free

    I just started using tutorials recently. I basically want to learn the stuff that many people seem to know how to do (sig wise).
