    Default PIII Underclock?

I just upgraded from a PIII 733Mhz processor with a 100mhz bus to a 1Ghz with a 133 bus. My computer runs like crap and i think it is because the motherbord can only handle 100Mhz bus speed. Can someone tell me how to lower the speed if you can?

EDIT: I should specify, when I said runs like crap i realy mean it randomly crashes.

Yes, That imight be it, and no, i dont think you can lower the speed of the bus. It also might be that because your old cpu was a 100mhz bus your RAM was most likely 100MHz as well, you might be better upgrading to some pc133 Ram which if I am right should make it run faster.

But i am pretty sure that if the motherboard doesnt support 133mhz bus then the cpu just shouldnt run.

    but thats all i know

I do have 133mhz ram. and I talked to gateway and they were like: "your motherbord can only take up to 100Mhz bus speed." I guess i'll have to give up my amazing 1Ghz PIII and go back to 733Mhz

Check your jumpers. It's probably your mobo being clocked at 100mhz that is giving you all those probs.
    BTW, what is your motherboard?

    Fedora motherboard EA8A510A P09

I didn't know that motherboards had jumper seatings. lol

when it boots it detects that i have 133Mhz ram, i think the gateway people might have been dumb. But i'm a newb so i trust whatever anyone tells me.
