I always wondered why the dreamcast went out of business as sega is famous and it was one of the first consoles with next generation graphics and a built in net connection.

Because it wasn't as great then they expected to be.
Well forone, all the new consoles woulda came out sonna or l8er and they mightve been lazy
Sony won.
As always Sega brought thier console out to early, in my opinion, Just like the saturn, Which although charming and an old favourite of mine, Did'nt touch the Playstation's popularity.
Sega dreamcast in my opinion had some of the best games ever, JSR. Shenmue, Skies of arcadia and so on, but you cannot atribute these to the console, but to the developers, The dreamcast as a console Was flawed, and was easily out-done by sony. The most redeming feature was It's online capability's.
I'm suprised Nintendo has lasted, with the flop of thier DS.
Raaagghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... hh..
Even so' they could have released a new more updated one. And to be honest, Nintendo's hanging on by the skin of their teeth and the Xbox only seems popular because of the HALO and HALO 2 games.

Sega are not out of business though, If that is wat you meant,
They are just focusing on Software and arcade machine software development.
Rather then the hardware scene.
as yu can see they are still releasing games.

Well i am glad that they are still making Sega games although i am displeased that the only sonic related game on the PS2 is sonic heroes.

Yup, I found Sonic heroes good, but I still like sonic adventure's 1 & 2 better.
especialy sonic adventure dx for the PC.
They also released Sonic mega collection and Sonic mega collection plus,
but there just old games compiled together, plus they made a Eye toy special. That had a sonic game on and also a Night's into dream's game which in my opinion is one of sonic team's master pieces.

The reason Dreamcast went out was because the hype of the PS2 and a combination of other factors. Another main one was that it was easy to play copied games downloaded from the internet. Game sales went down a lot.
The reason Sega didn't make a new console was because they weren't financially able to do so. They had spent all their money for development of the Dreamcast.
I personally think that Sega is doing just fine in the software business. They make good games.
Note. Moved to general gaming.
Even so, I stillthink they should try to move the sonic adventure games to the PS2 or some other console so those who never had the chance to get the dreamcast can see the whole storyline.

I'm failing to see how the DS flopped.Originally Posted by Xena
Sega hadn't had the mainstream success with the Saturn that say, the PlayStation and the N64 managed, thus when the Dreamcast came along they hadn't got as much reputation or casual-gamer fanbase if you will. Also, with mascot games like Sonic, there had be no "real" 3D Sonic games on the Saturn, so to an extent Sega were in a way leaping from the 16-bit era to 128. They just couldn't recapture the magic they had in their games in the early 90's.

At least Sega is still making games, but I don't see a very good future with Sonic. It has strayed too much from the original idea. Now it's only about having tons of characters and complicated storylines, as well as sliding on rails. Where's the classic Sonic I grew up with? Even the 2D Sonic games of now pale to those of before. Well, at least I still have PSO and PSU to look forward to.

Uhmm, as far as I know, the PSP doesn't have many good games, not to mention it's more expensive and it's not very attractive. The DS seems to be competition.Originally Posted by Xena
Anyway, back to the subject. While the DC did lose out, at least it still does have fans among emulation.
The PSP will be very popular due to the fact that there are many Sony Playstation fans and not as many fans for the nintendo corp.
Plus they will be bringing out hundreds of games for the PSP and to be perfectly honest the PSP looks much cooler than anything the nintento have released.
