Favorite PSX RPG

I have a question that I would love to see answered. I was just wondering what everyones favorite PSX RPG was, other than Final Fantasy. It can be any RPG for the PSX, just not a Final Fantasy game. Everyone knows how great the FF series is, but what about other games?? Personally, my favorite is Legend of Dragoon.

Edit: This is only PS1 games. Please don't list any PS2 games.

Umm... pretty hard choice between Tales of Phantasia and Valkyrie Profile.

VAGRANT STORY.

The storyline and the graphic design was pretty damn good.

EDIT: Haven't finished Tactics Ogre or Xenogears yet, though. They are potentially great as well.

I'm actually glad that you don't want any FF-games to be named. When most people are asked about PSX and RPGs, they instantly say some Final Fantasy game.

Anyway... Valkyrie Profile, of course.

Best battle system I've seen in a PSX game. And the story. Too bad it only becomes clear if you unlock all the endings.

Suikoden II. A classic story, 108 recruitable characters and a great battle system. Everything about it oozes class.

Xenogears, for people who played it should know why. People who have not played it play the damn game.

Lunar: Silver Star Story. It has a brilliant story and great characters, and a familiar and favoured (by me) battle system that reminds me of my favourite GBA game Golden Sun.

Vangrant Story, Suikoden 2 and Xenogears. Can't choose between those 3.

If Castlevania: SotN counts, then it's that. Otherwise, I don't really like any PSX RPGs all that much, and if I can't even name FFI... I guess Vagrant Story, it was fun for the few minutes I played it.

I'll have to say Xenogears. No other PSX RPGs I've played can come close.

Of course I haven't played Vagrant Story or Valkyrie Profile.

I love anyone who has the will to adventure, so I meanly love it for the story, though the game is good to.

sorry but this is called your favorite psx rpg so i don't think its fair to say not to name any FF games. so yeah, FF7 is my fav psx rpg. however, i have other favorites:
-suikoden 1
-castlevania SOTN
-lunar 2 eternal blue
-brave fencer musashi

i have suikoden 2 and have had it for quite some time...dunno why i haven't mad time for it

Valkyrie Profile is quite romantic. Along the same lines, and also in terms of overall enjoyment, I'd say the first Vandal Hearts is my favorite.

Xenogears. So sad that it never reached Europe (I know Xenosaga doesn't really have anything to do with Xenogears, but; Xenosaga 2 is coming to Europe now, but not the first in the series though. Just an extra DVD to explain the story of the first game or something. DAMN NAMCO FOR RELEASING XS2 AND NOT XS1 AND KATAMARI DAMACY! ).
