I downloaded a torrent and aside from the movie files there was a .SFV my question is what is it?
My 2nd question is what is the best audio codec out there and where can get it (it be nice if it just be seperate but codec packs are fine too).?

The SVF file is to make sure nothing is incomplete or have CRC erros.
And for the audio codec ,try ACE codec pack , it has almost every video and audio codec, and that will prolly solve any codec problem.
What Mr. Wilde said. Also, if you want a more lightweight solution, try out VLC media player. It can handle most movies without any extra codec packs installed, so.

Yeah. Any problem that can be solved by codec pack, can be solved more easily and with fewer additional problems by installing and using VLC... And VLC doesn't cause mess-ups the way codec packs can.
VCL worked! Thanx
