It's not like I can't beat it; I just want S rank without changing types .

Just beat Crystalis for the NES.

Finally. Officially the longest LP I've ever done. I think...
Yeah... I'm pretty sure this one is longer than Spyro.

Yeah, the three PSX Spyro games only take a few hours each, even if you're going for 100%. When I was younger, I spent a few nights at a friend's house. Each night, I played through a different one of them.

I'm not use to an NES game taking me more than two hours, though.
All told, with the stuff that I didn't record (grinding, backtracking, etc), Crystalis probably gave me about 9 hours of game play. Which is more than I've gotten out of most games I've played.

Yeah, if you had played Legacy of the Wizard and didn't use a guide or map, you'd end up taking something close to that. And it's not a grinding-heavy game. There are a few things you could buy to make things easier, but there are also items that show up occasionally that max out your gold, magic, keys, or health.

Actually, you probably wouldn't beat it. It's not entirely clear what you're supposed to do. Nor is it clear how the various mechanics work.

One of these days, I'm going to attempt that game. And actually do it properly -- no walkthroughs, just writing down everything that seems like a plot point/something I'll have to come back to, draw maps of dungeons if need be, charts and everything. I did that when I finally got around to beating Metroid for the NES, and it was a lifesaver.

I beat Mass Effect (1). Great Game, can't afford #2 yet though.
Moogle's are more kick-ass than they look.

I was so close to completing a no death run of Batman for the NES. I think I only had about five more hits on The Joker before he died, but I overdid a jump and landed in the middle of a lightning bolt, and it threw me off. A quick shotgun blast to the face and then trampling me kind of finished me off right quick.

I did just complete a no continue run of Batman for the NES, though. Got him on the second attempt.
