    Default PS2 mod chip

I am interested in getting a PS2 (no soder) mod chip. However I'm not too big on the idea of having to open it (the ps2) up to install one.
Has anybody here installed a mod chip in their PS2?
    Was it hard to do?
Are you happy with the results?
The one that I am looking at is the
    PS2 No Solder ModChip - R Mod at www.gocybershop.ca

I don't have a PS2, so I wouldn' know. You should just probably wait a little while until they put one up.

I heard of an external modchip that you attach at the USB port of your PS2 but I don't know anymore about it since PS2 games are most of the time in DVDs so i can't copy them. I don't remember very well where I saw it but try to search it on Google or on the PS2 section of Megagames

If you want to know more about the new external modchip for ps2
    go
    there
    and click on Playstation2
so You will see the modchip.

    For more info:USBMOD / NEOKEY:
The Neo Key / USBMOD is the worlds first external solution for US and PAL PS2's. Its compatible with every model PS2 (US/EUR).
It slots nicely into the PS2 USB slot. You can now play your PSX and PS2 backups (compatible with All Titles including EA Sports Games that have been patched with the new EA Patches).
The USBMOD requires a Game Shark 2 (US Customers) or Action Replay 2 (Euro Customers) to play your PS2 backups. PSX backups play without any need for either of these.
You still need to open up your PS2 but you are only required to solder 1 very easy link wire. Diagrams, wire and solder are included.

    So the modchip cost 39$US

It is a copy I remember reading it before when I was thinking of getting one so I could play my PSX games on PS2. I'm a little nervous about opening up the system and possibly doing some soldering as well, and the USB mod-chips still require you to open up the system and do some soldering. If I somehow mess up the system, I've gotta buy a whole new one. That added on to how furious my brother will be when he finds out I broke his PS2 is enough to scare me away from it. Maybe I'll just buy a pre-modded PS2 or something... I've seen one, but it was $399!

Well, then it is better to try soldering in the one that you actually have, and then, if you break it, you buy a new one

There is a USB PS2 modchip now. There are external chips for PSX I know but they connect via Serial Port. I thought there were only internal ones for the PS2 but I guess I'm wrong darkchrono.

So far they all have to be soldered in.
Or plugged in inside the PS2 unit.
