Question Help me with PS2 -> Singapore purchased location

I don't know if this forum have any singapore mates around,
but i will like to try my luck here ^^!

I would like to buy a PS2 and play pirate games and burned games

but i visited some stores the price is extremely high and PS2 not as popular as i thought in SG! where xbox goes into and retail shop but PS2 shop is so rare!

since so many years has pass. i been waiting for price drop, i visited the stores last week and found out that i have to pay

    SONY Playstation 2 = SGD$285 ~> USD$168
    SONY Playstation 2 with modchip installed = SGD$380 ~> USD$224
    -------------------
another stores offer (worst[near yishun ring])
    Must buy in bundle
SONY Playstation 2 with modchip installed = SGD$450
inclusive 6 pirate game, 1 extra controller, a memory card?
    -------------------
and lastly pirate games store had been tight to find, where i found NONE!
if you are in singapore, and know PS2 please msg me POST or PM if willing to give information

    thanks for reading.

i think in singapore pirate is RARE (lol) unlike in the past 5~6years back
they sell pirate cd-roms, game, vcd (with nude) in public
but now you cannot see such stuff anymore

Thanks for xferous alot your post really will help me!!!!!
i get down the place and take alook

    because i'm wondering
official euro playstation site sell ps2 alot cheaper than
    official sony.com.sg (SGD$285)

i am thinking my package will be "Swap Magic 3+ Magic Switch pro" + SGD$285(SCPH-70006 CB)but problem where to get this software "swap" in singapore(i dun have credit card to do internet purchases)?

as this late year it is told to retail shop in SG it is illegal to modify xbox console so they might dare not modify or raise up the price for risk.

xferous-> what ps2 package are you using? when buy?how much you buy? i live in sengkang i think it somewhere near kovan thats really a great support from you
