Carcass confirmed for Wacken. :O
Entire new Exodus album up for streaming on their myspace, fucking awesome.
The new Electric Wizard album has leaked. It's pretty good.
I suppose I should listen to Ayreon, I haven't bothered to =/
Any recommendations?
Listening to Carcass again, after hearing one or two songs a year or two again. This'll be pretty awesome at Wacken ^__^
For those who like doom/symphonic metal, listen Sobre Nocturne. They liberated an album for dl in their site.
Here's the link: http://www.sobrenocturne.com/zone/
Not my cup of tea, to be honest. Yet another band that's overdosed on the symphonics and forgotten how to write a compelling riff. Not that the songs are bad, just rather pedestrian aside from the soft sections which are admittedly very well done.
Not that I dislike symphonies or thinking outside the box (Haggard made some great albums in this style and Profanum Aeternum should be required listening for anyone who decries classical leanings in their metal) but if they're going to put that much emphasis on the choirs and symphonies, they should the full Profanum route and phase out the typical metal instruments entirely.
I don't really hear the Doom in their music. I hear a lot of "epic" metal influence in the songwriting ala Nightwish, Within Temptation and a few of the more pretenious power metal bands, but very little gothic/doom sound and nothing resembling any of the older Doom styles.

yeah, maybe but i don't think they sound like nightwish, or other shit like that.
The lyrics aproach more like therion's.
So who's going to Wacken in 2008 then? Carcass, Iron Miaden and At The Gates (not my cup of tea)?
