    Default Howl's Moving Castle

Anyone else see it? Its an anime movie (i know about the forum, but read on), but I learned in the past day that this is currently playing in select theaters. I saw a whopping 1 commercial for it. It was created by Hayao Miyazaki, and Studio Ghibli. Disney, who seems to have taken it for its US release, has done absolutely no promoting of the movie. Its a shame too, since I enjoy Miyazaki's films. I did see it in japanese, so I cant vouch for the English dubbing.

So yea, did anyone have the chance to see this in the theaters?

I saw it in Japanese with subs. It's a cool movie, but lots was changed from the original book, and that alienated some fans. I think it's great though.

I saw it in Japanese with English subtitles too. It's a gorgeous movie, but it kind of lacks a plot. The characters and "love story" were pretty good though.

So watcha think of the book? It's a bit less "plot-heavy" than the movie, I think.

The book is quite a bit different then the movie to say a bit. Id definatly recommend watching the movie first because of it, and i can kind of see why fans of the book were disappointed. Miyazaki changed a lot of the stuff from the book, simply because it would have never worked in the short time of the movie. The book has so much going on in it, it kept me hooked while I read it travelling between places in Australia. The most noticable difference is Sophie, and the hatred she shows throughout the book, along with major differences between the Witch of the Waste. Calucifer is definatly defined as quite a bit more evil, and Howl's apprentice is different too. The movie does retain many of the main points of the story, but the book is definatly more detailed, and different enough where i definatly encourage reading it. Just to give you an idea of how the author, or the person who illustrated the book portrayed Calucifer:

Definatly pick up the book if you can find time between reading Harry Potter (I know who you are!!! )
