Default Best way to convert PSX regions?

I've tried to do it a few times, but I'm never too successful. Could someone tell me the best program or guide to converting a PAL game to NTSC?

The best way is to just not convert anything and use a RGB Scart that supports PAL 50 display because the games will be running too fast if you patch them to NTSC and sometimes this can make a game unplayable and just crash.

Import Player (It's a boot CD-R that lets you pick the display type without patching)
    PAL4U (The best patch engine)
Zapper2K (Use only if above doesn't give you the correct Y pos)

PAL4U and Zapper2K can be found here

There's no RGB Scart here in Canada Zorlon.
Our TV's don't have any RGB... I wish there was, so it wouldn't be such a problem to play PAL games properly.

Hold on does that other Import Player work on your system polobunny?

If so I think TedHead will also find it very usfull aswell because of the Y fix it has

P.S. what connections do you guy's have then, not just coaxial hopefully (A web cam image of your TV ports would be cool) this info might help me help you anyway, though it might not aswell lol

The one by herben? Yes it works fine. Burn slowly though, the image is a crappy hack of the Import Player lite hack, so it is hard to boot.

We got AV (Audio Video) which consists of 2 audio cables and 1 video. There's a problem since all the video is stuck in one cable hi tones of reds tends to leak on other colors.
We got Coaxial which is pure shit. Older TV got that only.

I'll take pictures if you want of plenty of TV's and PSX cables i got

AV would work providing it decodes the image correctly some Scart leads over here don't decode NTSC either while others do, an example is the one I got with my PS2 P.S. your contrast is too high and that gives you the colour leakage.

Half the Contrast level you will see the difference

No need for a screeny I know what you have now

I've used Import Player and it works great, I just wanted to patch my games beforehand so I don't have to do the CD swap.

Pal4u has worked the best for me in patching, but it screws up the y-position a lot. It does everything else great. Is there a way to manually edit the y-position instead of relying on the program to detect it?

Use Zapper2K, I said that in my first post

Zapper2K lets you manually set the Y pos

I always lower the Color on my TV, so that colors don't leak. I don't see how people can play games with color to the max on their TV's.
But still. AV isn't the best thing, and no PAL games won't display properly. No TV here supports PAL.

Well I just spammed and hijacked your topic.
But glad you were able to play those games you wanted!

    No Problem TedHead

By the way polobunny my TV is PAL only but through AV I can use NTSC GameCube games on it if I play through coaxial though it would be in black and white and scroll up and down for NTSC games so it depends on the leads you use, not all AV connections decode the signal correctly.

Look at your Contrast instead of Color settings.

No, I know how to set up my TV.
I'm just an ultra perfectionnist one when it comes to things like that.

And hum, that's awfully weird Zorlon. There's no way AV would decode properly or not. AV cables is just AV cables.
Just to be sure we're talking about same thing, AV is normally represented as 1 yellow for video, 1 red for right audio and 1 white for left audio. And for a PSX, there's no way you can buy another AV cable anyway, it comes with the console.
But well, I need to see it to beleive it, take pictures.

Red White and Yellow leads one vid the other 2 are left and right speaker and the bit that decodes is on the other end anyway, either the bit that connects in the back of the PSX or another bit half way

I'm not saying that one works that way I don't have that lead but mine isn't that different and the one I use is only for PSX/PS2

Unless the color is far too high to start with usually it's the contrast that is set wrong
