Default Help With 1747 - Classic Nes - Dr. Mario (U)

When I load the "1747 - Classic Nes - Dr. Mario (U)" ROM in my emulator, it's just a black screen that says:

    GAME PAK ERROR

    TURN THE POWER OFF.

Can this be fixed? Please help.

The classic NES series games work a little differently than normal gba roms and also contain copy protection. The first series was cracked, but the 2nd series which includes Dr. Mario as well as Metroid, Zelda 2 and Castlevania have not been cracked yet. The japanese version of Dr. Mario has been cracked so if you want to play Dr. Mario get that version or get pocketnes (nes emu for gba) and use the NES rom.

Well, yeah, I could just use an NES emulator, but the whole reason I wanted to play the GBA version was so I could compare and contrast the GBA and NES versions for informational purposes.

Edit: Oh yeah, and, the Famicom and NES versions of Dr. Mario were exactly the same. The Japanese game was already in English. So, can one assume the Japanese GBA version is in English?

    Maybe, who knows?
Btw, they don't work on a flashcart either, also for informational purposes to anyone who would like to try.

I assume you mean there's some sort of IPS patch that would get rid of the copy protection on the Japanese version. If so, I can't find it.

The NES/Famicom collection emulator isn't a very good one. PocketNES is actually a better emulator.

Hmm...is FCEUltra any good? That's what I use for NES emulation.
