Unhappy help -- i get black screen with epsxe

i need help. every time i try using epsxe160 it always gives me a black screen with no sound. i have searched the forums and tryed playing around with the configs, but nothing works.

iv played with CVGS before, but i had to format n lost the files. now when i try to use the CVGS(from emuparadise), it always tells me "blah blah u need a p2+ blah blah" when i got a p4 (i read that it has to be lower then p3)

thats y im trying out new emulators, epsxe seems to be the best from what iv read. (iv tryed adriPSX ILE, it works..but quality for sound/video isnt great)
    iv read the "epsxe configuration handbook", n i didnt get much help from that..since i got the black screen no matter what ;;

iv tryed the "beginers" and "advanced" plugins...but yes same outcome --the black screen.

    comp specs :
    p4 3.0ghz
    512mb of ram
    radeon 9700
    xp (home sp1)

id really apreciate the help, id love to play psx games on pc again

Do you have the BIOS file? Are you trying to play the game straight from image, from a mounted virtual drive or from a CD?

If you try to run image, use Run ISO command. If you are using mounted image or actual CD, configure CD-ROM, and select the right drive letter, then use RUN CD-ROM command.
    Have you seen me before?

It might be either video plugin issue or hardware isssue,
    cause when you don't have
BIOS selected emu gives you error message.
Maybe trying to run software plugins
or getting latest drivers for your video card
and DirectX will solve the problem...
Trying to enable (disable) D3D hardware acceleration
    might help as well.
