Ok... Why if they are using the same wi-fi standard is the DS slower.... and 11mbps is very fast for 802.11b... which only has "a realistic throughput of 2.5-4Mbps,"...

    Quoted from www.nintendo.com:

Wireless Communication: IEEE 802.11 and Nintendo's proprietary format; wireless range is 30 to 100 feet, depending on circumstances; multiple users can play multiplayer games using just one DS game card

It is 802.11, but it is neither b or g. It is proprietary, therefore the speed is dependant on what Nintedo prescribes.

Ok that explains why it's slower. It's not 802.11b it's a proprietary version of the 802.11 standards.

though 11mbps is still the very max 802.11b is capable of...

Also who buys a system based on Tech specs alone...

But if you wish to compare the systems... here you go.

I feel sorry for people own the Nintendo DS. The PSP (Though I still will not get, just get a playstation 2) is more powerful then the DS. Plus it uses CDs instead of old-style cartridges. And remember, it is not uncommon for LCD screens to have a spot that is emtpy in color, all LCD owners should that by now.

btw, Legend, we must have the same source.
As long as you got the power and the pad, you'll get the womens.

Ok. The DS uses a specialized format of 802.11b. It uses the like slow part or something with specialized packets. There have been ppl that have been able to "catch" and read the data it sends.

Why feel sorry for them? If they didn't actually want a DS then they wouldn't have bought one in the first place...

What it comes down to, as I see it, is that if you want something aimed at portable gamers soely then get the DS. But if you want something rather flashy that is as much part of your media entertainment as it is for games (and your not quite so bothered about long runs without a recharge) then the PSP is probably for you.

    is that about right?

    Looks like it.

I'll prolly end up getting both eventually. Not sure when that time period would be, but both. Like when the DS is 80 bucks and the PSP is 100.
