Default NEWS: RIAA wants to hack YOUR comp

    http://www.wired.com/news/conflict/0,2100,47552,00.html

looks like the RIAA thinks they have the right to hack into peoples comps (in other words, invade their privacy) and delete "stolen" mp3s. I would like to know how they can tell if it is really stolen, or possibly ripped, or if you really bought it legally.

anyways, what do you guys think of this?

RIAA is going overboard again, and from the wording of that amendment, they sure have some incompetent lawyers working for them. That they are trying to pass it off as prevention of terrorism is just pitiful.

RIAA just try to hack my computer. If they really get a hold of my computer, their IP address is already logged, that's when I lauch a counter-strike on them. Yes.

Very interesting...however, I do have a few problems in understanding what the amendments mean?

    1. If it is put in force, does it mean that it cannot be retracted?

    2. If they have a right to hack into your computer, what stops them from doing taking away important personal information?

    3. Is there going to be an authority looking over the RIAA?

    4. According to my own interpretation of ethics, would this not constitute a form of 'legal' cyber-terrorism?

    5. I think there are equally important areas to look at such as tax evasion, suspect accounting practices, business collusion masquerading as 'alliance capitalism' and other issues.

Actually, Knight's sig is pretty kick ass, I like it. The only thing wrong with it is the random white dots and lines in the animations, otherwise it's the shit.

The RIAA still sucks even up to the present, but this is hacking business isn't even relevant anymore. And really, all they ever accomplished is making "examples" out of some isolated things; which people forgot and didn't really care about. Just avoid d/l movies from p2p, that's very much watched, by not just them. Well, I avoid it anyways, you do as you like; crappy compressed files that aren't even DVD quality aren't worth being harassed over. And most movies suck too.
