Microsoft won't unveil new Xbox in March

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. will not unveil the next generation of its Xbox video game console at the Game Developers Conference in March, the company said on Monday.
Citing a conversation with Microsoft (Research) management, American Technology Research analyst P.J. McNealy said the company was more likely to take the wraps off its new console in May at the broader Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.
A Microsoft spokeswoman confirmed McNealy's report that the new Xbox would not be shown off at GDC.
As opposed to E3, which takes in publishers, marketers and retailers, GDC is aimed more narrowly at game developers. It was at GDC five years ago that Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates unveiled the original Xbox.
The new Xbox, code-named "Xenon," is widely expected within the industry to launch later this year. Microsoft has said little publicly about it, though, and on a conference call last week suggested there would be little news until E3.
Last week Microsoft cited strong sales of its "Halo 2" video game for the Xbox as one of the key drivers of its financial results for the December quarter.

In fairness I probably wont bother. I spent a stupid amount of money on various consoles and simply havent got my moneys worth from them. If anything, I'll get the XBOX2 over the PS3, but only because Ive found the current Microsoft system to be more entertaining than Sony's current effort. Mind, with that being said, who's to know what 'killer apps' either system might have when they're released? Oh well.

I don't think the XBox really has many stand-out titles myself, which is why I've never really been content with mine. It always plays second-fiddle to my PS2, chiefly due to the fact that there's such a robust and varied selection of games on that system. Even so, if they can pull some magic out of the dark recesses of thier asses, then I'll definitely give their next system a look once it hits. Why not?

Exactly.

To be fair if either of my PS2's still worked I'd probably play them more than the XBOX, however at least the latter has been slightly more reliable. It is, of course, down to personal choice, but most of the games I own for my XBOX are of a very high standard, whereas I got through a load of shite with my PS2. Swings and roundabouts really, as I missed out on a lot of quality with regards to good games for the PS2 when either of them broke down.

I can't wait for xbox 2. I still won't have xbox live which sucks but the console will rock. The game i want most is Elder Scrolls 4.
