    Default Favourite Solo?

All right. I don't believe we've had one of these here so what the hell, lets do it.

Quite simple, just state whichever guitar solo you like. Give us the song name/band name and what ever info you wish to add.
As for my picks, they are

    Dream Theater - Hollow Years:
You know the one if you've listened to this. Almost 2 minutes long, a nightmare to play and just fucking marvelous.

    Metallica - Fade to Black:
    Outro solo.

Iron Maiden - Hallowed be thy Name:
    Last solo.

Demons & Wizards - Fiddler on the Green:
    Outro solo.

Those are off the top of my head. I might edit later if I remember any outstanding ones.

    So anyway.. Post away.

    On guitar:
    Metallica - One
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (end solo, especially when played live)

    Bass:
Dream Theater - Metropolis Part 1 and Dance of Eternity. Only 2 I know

Drum solos go to the live performances of Rush - YYZ and Dream Theater - Ytse Jam.

    Gah...

Megadeth - 2nd Solo from "Tornado of Souls" is my favorite, "Lucretia", countless others.

Metallica - All of the solos in "Fade to Black", "Battery", "Master of Puppets", "Sanitarium", "Ride the Lightning"... most Metallica solos rule.

In Flames - "Episode 666"(the not so complex solo), "Clad in Shadows"(the old version of the song's solo), "December Flower", "Wayfaerer", "Artifacts of the Black Rain", and of course "Man Made God".

Many of the solos in Godgory's "Sea of Dreams" album.

Slayer - "Captor of Sin" and "Mandatory Suicide" solos...

    Bunch of Exodus solos...

Deicide - solo from "Scars of the Crucifix", "Sacrificial Suicide", and "Trifixion".

Vital Remains - "Dechristianize"... the most incredibly melodic and hard solo I've ever heard.

Edit: Oh yeah, and endless Manowar solos, since many of their songs that don't have many cool riffs are filled with tons of incredible solos.

Those are my favorites too. BONG!

edit: ... how the fuck could I forget the Dechristianize-solo!? "Hail the tyrant, the abyss of God and Chaos!".

Not 100% sure if some of these even qualify as Guitar Solos, but let's see here:

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters (Towards the end)
Led Zepplin - Stairway to Heaven (We all know this one)
Breaking Benjamin - Next to Nothing
Any Iron Maiden song (w00t w00t)
Spirit. In every language in all the realms, surface and underdark, in every time and every place, the word has a ring of strength and determination. It is the hero's strength, the mother's resilience, and the poor man's armor. It cannot be broken, and it cannot be taken away.
    This I must believe

I don't listen to too much metal, so I wouldn't know of most of those.

My favorite would probably "Fade to Black" by Metallica. I also have to say that I think Floyd's guitarist is a genius, his solos in comfortably numb sound great, and it is amazing that he can get something so neat sounding with only using like 5 different notes.
