    Hello

    I was wondering if the new PS2 (slim model) is moddable and what is the chip to use? Also Is there any change comparing the old ps2 and the new

    I know that there isn't a modchip for this PS2 yet. Here in Mexico you can't find it at all. Even the guys selling you the PS2 tell you this before you buy, because they aren't sure if someday they'll get the chip.

    I think it's just a matter of time. Everything got moddable until now so why it should stop? wait and see

    Uh it is moddable, but they are having problems with lasers burning out.

    you mean problem reading cd-r/dvd-r? or the laser burns the ps2?

    Another question: Is the PS2 slim still using HDD or is it too small now?

    It doesn't support the HDD, because it lacks the port for it.

    didn't they drop support for the hdd?

    The only game that uses the HDD is FFXI and RE: O, and yes the HDD is pretty mush useless if you dont have those games. O wait, cant you d/l maps for SOCOM on it also?

    Yeah. That, and you can buy a program called the HD-Advance, which allows you to backup your games to the HDD. It's nifty.

    where i work i have sold about a 500 slimlines and about 60 of em came back defective

    there kinda flimsy too,
    i dropped one on purpose to see what would happen
    and the thing shattered

    get an old one ready chipped
    best course of action

    Isnt the HDD connected by USB?

    Nope. It fits right into the back of your PS2, in the expansion bay.

    I think there is USB hard drive support in the new one? I can't remember if the USB HD loader is out yet, or still under development.
