Hello
Can someone tell me what is the best compression tool for iso->smallest file
I use 7-zip or rar
results vary for the same game: sometimes it's 7-zip and other time is rar
multiple rars are the smallest but how to configure winrar?
thanx

depends with the ISO i have a GC ISO that is 1.5gigs big but packed into a 732kb File 0o if anyone would like to see the file i would happily upload it
UHA and 7-zip usually gives out the smallest files, but for the time/size ratio rar format is the best.
I once done a small test, and WinRAR won, without hesitation.
That would be because it contains lots of dummy data used to fill it to the size of the disc it can be compressed down to about nothing.Originally Posted by CHaos638
but what game was it because even so thats massively too small to be a GC game
Not really. The Backyard Baseball GC ISO compresses down to less than 2 MB.Originally Posted by Zer-0_Divide
really thats brutal anyways i wouldnt have know since i wouldnt have downloaded such a brutal of brutal games
Yes, owned, brutally. Say it.
Animal Crossing is about 15 i have heard... 2 though that's most impressive...Originally Posted by Sprung
When i pay 50$ for a disk i want that disk to be full, not full of crap.
what are the parameters to get the smallest siez with 7-zip?
for one you would have to set the compression to ultra, I think the default compression method for 7-zip is the best. Default compression on 7-zip is normal.
thanx. I'm trying to gain space for my isos collection
If you are not worried about the time, I would definetly go with 7-zip Ultra settings.
You mean the default for 7-zip is best (you think), and default for Winrar is normal I'm guessing. Default for Winrar is normal.Originally Posted by TheotheImpaler

just checked 7-zip. for best compression the program needs a HUGE amount of memory: 2 gb !!!! (yes you read it well) So if you don't have enough memory it will use virtual memory A LOT-> constant HD work
