Default what is the best compression for isos?

    Hello

Can someone tell me what is the best compression tool for iso->smallest file

    I use 7-zip or rar

results vary for the same game: sometimes it's 7-zip and other time is rar

multiple rars are the smallest but how to configure winrar?

    thanx

UHA and 7-zip usually gives out the smallest files, but for the time/size ratio rar format is the best.
I once done a small test, and WinRAR won, without hesitation.

That would be because it contains lots of dummy data used to fill it to the size of the disc it can be compressed down to about nothing.

Not really. The Backyard Baseball GC ISO compresses down to less than 2 MB.

for one you would have to set the compression to ultra, I think the default compression method for 7-zip is the best. Default compression on 7-zip is normal.

If you are not worried about the time, I would definetly go with 7-zip Ultra settings.

You mean the default for 7-zip is best (you think), and default for Winrar is normal I'm guessing. Default for Winrar is normal.

just checked 7-zip. for best compression the program needs a HUGE amount of memory: 2 gb !!!! (yes you read it well) So if you don't have enough memory it will use virtual memory A LOT-> constant HD work
