    Default Crossover?

    ok my box says CAT5e high speed network cable
    snagless 24k gold plated connectors
    ethernet/token ring netowork
    for 10/100/1000 base-t ethernet networks
    premium CAT5e cable for network connection to PC, cable and DSL modems, reouters and switches

    is it a crossover or straight through? thanks!

    It's probably straight through. What are you using it for? That'll make it pretty easy to test.

    If you wanna hook into a hub, you want straight through and it'll work.
    Use a crossover to go directly between two computers.

    You may want to check the Computer Tech forum, as there are people there that don't visit the Free4All too often that can give excellent advice. This thread will probably be moved there anyway.

    Its a straight-through patch cable for sure. You can make it a crossover with the right tools (not hard, btw)

    That's what the guide was...

    Basically, there are two wiring configurations A and B. If they are both the same, straight through. Otherwise, it's crossover. That's how you can make a crossover. You'll just have to splice the wires in the middle and switch how they match up. Or just buy one for $5.
