Downloading this at the moment. I love hearing developments in the N64 emulation region.

Edit: I've tried this plug-in and it works quite well. another one that manages to play resident evil 2. (not any better then Jabo's lol but if it plays that is a big improvement)

I'm going to sticky this for about a week just to see how it goes, if it doesn't go too well I'll just unsticky it

is that ok with you Zorlon, this is pretty much your section. just in case you don't want a damn upstart newbie n00b mod getting in your way.

Does Star Ocean run on ZSNES 1.40? Also, I've been wanting to play ProGear ever since I saw some screenshots of it...Is Kawaks currently the only emulator capable of running it, or can the recent releases of MAME run it as well?

Default Star Ocean, N64 Rice Video 6.0.0.c

EDIT: (sorry wont do the double posting again)

    Hi Nedders,
i just downloaded ZNES v1.40 and can tell you that at first glance Star Ocean works, both in its original language and also with the english patch by DeJap. I said at first glance only because i havent actually played through it and so i dont know if there are problems further in the game.

Oh, and in case you didnt know, previously ZNES needed an additional graphics pack to play Star Ocean, because the game cartridge had a special graphic chip inside. The emulator snes9x didnt need this extra graphics pack as the chip was incorporated into the emulator code and used when needed. However, now ZNES also comes with support for this chip.

So you can use both snes9x and ZNES. If you experience problems with one, use the other, and having both emulators on your computer is not that big a deal once you get used to it (some games work better in different emulators, but between snes9x and ZNES youre should be set).

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    DOUBLE POST EDIT:

New release for this series of N64 graphic plugins and as Rice says:
"I will take a long break from this project after this release."

You can download this from many places, but since Rice is a moderator at the emutalk forum, you might as well go there for the full story.

    What's new:
    1. Software vertex clipper problem fixes.
    2. OpenGL fragment program extension (Pixel shader in OpenGL).
    3. An optional Z coordinate hack for the near plane clipping problems in some games without using near plane vertex clipping
    4. OpenGL finally gets to similar degree as DirectX. It is actually faster on my PC because I don't have to use software vertex clipper with it. OpenGL will do the vertex clipping. It still does not support frame buffer effects yet.
    5. But, in order to use the new OpenGL pixel shader feature, you need to good video card to support OpenGL ARB_Fragment_Program extension. Radeon 9500 and better from ATI, and FX 5200 and better from Nvida will do it.
    6. I have no plan to support frame buffer effects in OpenGL, and I will take a long break from this project after this release.

    Take it easy.

Thanks for all the ZSNES info, Aldebaran...I will give Star Ocean a shot in the near future once I download the English patch...On the other hand, I was able to track down the 4 ROM versions of Progear and play it in Nebula. I must say that the game is cool...Beautiful artwork + Classic Shooting by Cave = Fun

    Default MAME 0.90u2

    .90u2
    ------

Fixed colours in Battle City [Roberto Gandola]

Slight change to the Arcadia Driver [Nathan Woods]
    src/drivers/arcadia.c:
    src/includes/amiga.h:
    src/machine/amiga.c:
    - Refactors code specific to the Arcadia arcade system and the Amiga
computer out of src/machine/amiga.c into callbacks. This allowed me to
get rid of all #ifdef MESS code out of src/machine/amiga.c

    ST-V updates [Angelo Salese]
-Fixed a bug with the VDP-1 ram reading,
SH-2 can do byte or word access, it's implicit that can't do long word access.
This fixes the Steep Slope Sliders booting so the game now works.
-VDP-1 PTM's "draw by request" was actually causing sprites to flicker in
kiwames, reversed back to old implementation until I or somebody else understand
what the current issue is (clear_framebuffer?)
-Finished the game header update, let me know if you like/don't like the system
used for the description of the games.
-fixed a ST-V visible area incorrectness which was causing Virtual Mahjong 2 to
crash after the sound ram check
-fixed a window effect bug in Double-density interlace mode, this fixes some
    graphics in vmahjong & myfairld.
-Guessed a bitmap positioning issue in double-density interlace mode, this fixes
    the NBG1 positioning in myfairld.
-My Fair Lady now works but only with sound disabled.I have not removed the
    NOT_WORKING status due to that.

    New Sound Functionality [Derrick Renaud]
Took Frank Palazzolo's DISCRETE_FILTER2 code and made it work outside of the
    discrete system.
    See sound\filter.h for new functions.

Added op-amp bandpass filtering circuit to sound\namco54.c

    Game Driver Changes
    * bosco, galaga, polepos, xevious - added proper filters to new Namco54 noise
    source.

    ARM7 CPU core [Steve Ellenoff]

G65816 CPU core patch [Nathan Woods]
    src/cpu/g65816/g65816.c:
    src/cpu/g65816/g65816.h:
    src/cpu/g65816/g65816ds.c:
    src/cpu/g65816/g65816ds.h:
    src/cpu/g65816/g65816op.h:
    - Cleaned up the code a bit; make some functions static and added
step over/out support to the disassembler.

fixed 6809dasm.c compile warning [Hans de Goede]

    Model 3 Updates [Ville Linde]

    - Better interrupt handling. Nested interrupts work properly.

    - Fixed single-stepping mode DMA
    - Added memory moves and DMA callback

    Model 3:
    - Added Epson RTC-72421 emulation
    - Preliminary polygon emulation
    - Preliminary (not working yet) sound emulation
    - Too much to list Most Step 1.x games show
something now, up to and including full 3D.

Fixed multiple port recording [Chad Hurwitz]

Fixed several compile warnings [Lawrence Gold]

upgraded to zlib 1.2.2 [Santeri Saarimaa]

added unused proms to Crystal Castles [Santeri Saarimaa]

New Games / Clones supported or promoted from GAME_NOT_WORKING status:

    stable plugin specifications
    precede video timing
    improved debugger (more commands)
    memory cards are finally emulated
    compressed GCM files feature
    some HLE optimizations
    integrated MAP maker for HLE

If only this project will be continued....................for now we can only hope because it might be good GC emulator......
