Which anime are you currently watching?

I haven't been impressed by the animation in anything from recent years. It seems doubtful that any site would review older shows well after airing unless they decided to start a column for it.

Edit: Only watching dubs significantly cuts down the number of shows I can watch. My impressions on animation quality are from a fairly limited pool as a result.

Well the site I use (in my sig) has fan ratings not the site that rates shows. I just mean that looking at the animation style between older stuff is very different than how newer stuff is animated, and people don't like change

I think the same reasoning applies. The majority of viewers tend to gravitate to the newest and shiniest thing.

Speaking of Steins;Gate, It's the best anime series I've watched
The story, the characters, the atmosphere all blend in together perfectly
It presents Time-Travel is a very unique way
What made it more interesting is that some of the elements are actually real, like John Titor, the IBM, CERN.. All of this made it so good

Yeah, and I think when people see something that is already highly rated, even if they didn't like it all that much, the go easier on it for some reason.

It is a modern military (helicopters/machine guns/tanks) vs a bunch of cavalry/footmen with swords/lances that think they have a chance and get slaughtered.

Although I really enjoy Steins;Gate and I rate it highly (and own the series), when I first watched it, I was struggling through the first 8-9eps and then it went from 0 to 100 really quick.

So true! I found it very boring and pointless and considered stopping watching it at the beginning but a friend kept telling me to keep going and it just became really exciting
