    Default Midway Games

Just outta curiosity, I heard that Midway Games is going bankrupt. I heard it when I bought Shadow Hearts: Covenant. An employee told me as I was testing it out. Anyone else hear this? Couldn't find anything on their website. Except they're annual financial reports. Can't say whether I would be bummed or not, I don't play many midway games.

Hmmn. I'm going to go research this for myself. However I'm going to take this news with a grain of salt. Midway hasn't exactly been doing poorly, so I see no real reason that they'd be going bankrupt...

i dont believe this to be true
they have released a lot of 'good' games and have some in the pipeline
i hope they dont go the same way as acclaim.

will juiced ever be coming out now? acclaim were publishing it, but its been quiet since their demise. anyone else snapped it up?

Apparently Rockstar is looking to pick this one up. Let's hope it happens.

Yeah, well back to the topic at hand. I've been searching for any shred of info on Midway possibly going bankrupt, and have not been able to find anything. So at least at this point, it's looking like there's nothing to worry about there.

And now that I think of it, if Midway were in danger, why would they release the latest MK game complete with online support? Online support costs money to sustain, so if they were in trouble, why would they sink more money down the crapper? Sure, it could be argued that they'd have done it as a last ditch attempt to make some cash to avoid bankruptcy, but I really don't think that's the case...

Ditto... Last I heard, their latest games were well received, so I see no reason for this to happen... Maybe they're merging, or something...?

yeah, well, going bankrupt doesn't mean going out of business either. It just makes it really hard. Hell, Hostess went bankrupt, but they are still in business. It just means you are really, really in deep crap financially. Most businesses do close because of bankruptcy but not all. Anyway, on their site their financial reports said they had a net loss of 9.5 million dollars this second quarter (which to people not accounting savvy, is a lot of money in 3 months!)

Here's the link where I found that out...

    Default It's probably a lie

How could midway go out of buisness when they are about to release a new MC and they have a hand in DOOM3? It makes no sense.

A merge makes sense. They haven't been doing as hot as they did in the 1990's, so maybe they're merging with someone that can help'em out?

I'm not a financial wizard or anything, and hell, most of this went completely over my head. That's the price you pay when you dropped out of school in the first grade, I guess.

Anyway, all kidding aside, I'm unable to see exactly where they said they're going bankrupt. All they said was that thier profits were down, and that they didn't meet thier expected earnings. It happens. Doesn't mean that they're going out of business just yet...
