Default my mouse is the problem?

ok, my computer stopped working one day, and i looked at it and could find nothing wrong, so i had my friends also look at it. they gave me the suggestion that i might need a new motherboard. so, before buying a new motherboard i decided i would try to fix my computer. after a long time i got it to work, but sadly my mouse and keyboard weren't plugged in, so i had to turn it off and plug in my mouse and keyboard. when i restarted it, it wouldn't work. i kept trying stuff like making sure everything was plugged in correctly and that the ram worked, which it did. then finally i restarted again, but my mouse was unplugged. it worked fine, then i plugged in my mouse and it shut down. so i kept testing it, and it would only work when my mouse wasn't plugged in, so i got another mouse and my computer has been working great. has anyone ever heard of this happening before? cause it sure is new to me...oh and by the way, my old mouse is still being used, just on a different computer.

So its not the mouse, but rather a hardware issue. did you try another mouse on your computer? How are you connecting it, PS/2 i assume.

yea, i have another mouse and the computer works fine, it only doesn't work when i try to use the old mouse. the old mouse is being used on my other computer and it works fine with that computer.

EDIT: oh, and just to clarify, my computer worked for a long time with my old mouse without any problems. it just stopped one day and i couldn't figure out the problem. all i know is that with that mouse it won't work, and with my new mouse it works.
