Question Is Final Fantasy Dead?

with Hironobu Sakagushi gone from Square-Enix, and having him in a new game studio of his own now....

is the Final Fantasy series dead or still alive without their creator?

Its not dead. It just is using a walker and living in an old folks home. It's coming but not now.

Gil is gone!! Arg! I had the second most Gil and I bloody earned it... 12800 down the drain....

As for Final Fantasy, it'll do fine. It's had many main staff changes over the years. It's not like Dragon Quest where they rely on a core team. Although it would be sad if they lost Nobuo Uematsu. Every non-Uematsu game has been noticebly weaker than the rest.
*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

FFXII is looking sexified so I think it'll all be ok soon... no more worries and nightmares about Yuna's pop dancing.

I call him putter putters. But that's not his name. his name is goober. But you will call him kitty.

It'll be fine. Wanna know why? Because I'm doing the voice acting for all the characters from now on. I'm more varied than Phil LaMarr (Samurai Jack, Cleveland on Family Guy, etc, etc.) Trust me, we'll see what the future holds. Especially for me.

We'll see what happens. Really, for me, Final Fantasy has been going downhill the last few games anyways, so I really couldn't care less. Not that I was really ever into the games, but still... it's a shame, 'cause they're a great series.

I suppose it isn't because Hironobu Sakagushi wouldn't just quit his own thing that sold tons, even though he is at a different studio doesn't mean its dead. FF:CC was made a different studio wasn't it?

God, I hope so.

How can anyone play Final Fantasy? It's like watching a boring, shitty music, except there's less interactivity in FF.

Seriously, it's like walk three steps, 20 minute FMV. Walk another three steps, another 20 minute FMV.

They all suck.

Too many of 'em for a FINAL Fantasy.

I concur.
FF has been dead to me since they made X, where they decided to say 'Hey, why don't we just take the whole ideal of the series, take it out the back and shoot it, then piss on the corpse?'
Final Fantasy was all about self contained, single story-lines that existed in a fantasy universe. Ergo: NO SEQUELS!
The MMORPG thing I can't overlook either, MMORPGS are the bane of RPGs.

yeah but http://www.rpgamer.com/news/Q3-2004/081304b.html this is a bit different than only going into a branch studio of a company.... it's completely breaking the ties with Square-Enix and creating your own studio...

i think i might rent the next FF ... but if they don't make FFXII the best game ever released i'll boycott every future Final Fantasy

Hironobu Sakagushi FOR LIFE!!!

oops... didn't see the gil system dissapear
