Awesome thanks for the input. It was either this or a $100 dollar x-arcade pad that would use up the last of my money....so i guess i'll get one of these and a new game or 2.

Thats not a very cheap one... why not wait till we figure out how to convert a PSX/PS2 pad manually to USB?
/me points at thread in computer teck

I have a commercial converter (alot cheaper than the one you linked) and it works a charm for emulators. But don't you want the l33t points of building your own?

Del_boy has one of those I beleive. He said it works great with emus like ePSXe and stuff.

If you want to play N64 you can get an adaptoid at www.nathell.com. That is where I got mine. It is the cheapest price.

I wouldn't pay that much for a converter. I got the Boom PSX + N64 to USB for like $10. Although the only psx controllers it works with are the dual shock 2, it works pretty nicely.

The boom controller that xenan has is what I have, you might find a shop seeling it with a google (thats how I found a UK shop that did them).

Oh and as for peoples controllers catching fire, that was Master Vivi and he didnt even look at any instructions, he just tried matching wires of like colours directly.

You actually need to use a USB microcontroller and a few other things on a PCB. And thats the only thing that has me stumped, which USB microcontroller to buy.

A bit more of the same... I have some converters (4PSX pads --> PC, PSX --> GC, PSX --> DC) and never had any probs with any of them, i love em, they work great for emulation and are even cheaper than getting an extra controller.
