Wow, sweet. Thanks so much EGGO, I'll probably try out their new OS for my new 64-bit system.

That should be operating systems Seeing how windows doesn't happen to be the only OS to support 64bits CPUs.

Just to name a few of the mayor ones I've seen out there which support 64 bits CPUs:

    Mandrake 10.0
    SuSE 9.1
    Fedora Core
    Debian
    Gentoo

Well, for the new 64-bit processors, some new OSes are coming out that support the capabilities of the new architecture.

Interesting. EGGO, you have done your homework. That is a lot of information you have gathered. Yes, I will actually stick to my original Windows 95 3rd rev. to see how fast it runs with my future purchase: an A64 2800+ and 1 GB of DDR 400!
I hope Doom 3 runs in that operating enviroment...
Who needs an 64 bit Operating System!?
Now seriously, I hope that Sun has been taking notes and improve their Java desktop system using the memory address optimizations, because in it's curent form it is SLOW. And that Linux sees an overall unification in standars and refines it's drivers to take full advantage on these powerful processors. I hope...
Linux? Why? There's always Unix in beautiful terminal mode.
Or if you are really cheap... MS-DOS. Only a true technician can work in DOS.
C++ works just fine in my 2200+ AXP. But my games are slow.
I will only upgrade when a final version of Windows 64 bit is available for purchase. For now, why bother, my friends... outside bragging rights or getting Linux?
