    Default Weird processess keep comming up on my PC, help please.

    OSA.exe
    xmlabr.exe
    msmsgs.exe
    manmpscv.exe
    wupdater.exe
    lpxpvk.exe
    nvsnc32.exe
    acsd.exe
    csrss.exe
    smss.exe

    All this are wierd processes that keep showing up in task manager. I have tried ending them, but the come back after I restart or just on their own. I fear they may be doing damage to my computer, so I am asking this question: What are they and how can I get rid of them?

    msmsgs has something to do with MSN messenger I think.

    If you type any process name into google, smss.exe for example. You can get information on that process and if its harmful or not.

    A good thing would be to download a software called Startup Mechanic. http://www.startupmechanic.com/
    It scans what starts every time you open your account and say if it's harmful, useful, needed for windows, etc.

    OSA.exe
    ->Microsoft Office, http://www.liutilities.com/products/...sslibrary/osa/

    xmlabr.exe
    ->Not found

    msmsgs.exe
    ->Windows Messenger

    manmpscv.exe
    ->Not found

    wupdater.exe
    ->DANGER, http://forums.techguy.org/showthread...6ab8e65aad2172

    lpxpvk.exe
    ->Not found.

    nvsvc32.exe, not nvsnc32.exe
    ->Nvidia, http://www.liutilities.com/products/...brary/nvsvc32/

    acsd.exe
    ->AOL, http://www.liutilities.com/products/...slibrary/acsd/

    csrss.exe
    ->Windows, http://www.liutilities.com/products/...library/csrss/

    smss.exe
    ->Windows, http://www.liutilities.com/products/...slibrary/smss/

    Those I couldn't find may be possible threats, but I would suspect some third party unuseful software.

    Well one sugestion: What I do with those weird proceses is run a search on my hardrive with their name, and according to where they are you might want to delete them. Oh and you may want to check out ad aware, its very useful for this

    Spybot Search and Destroy is also good for this as well, i recomend running both it and ad aware, to imporve the chances of catching every thing.

    Yes, use both but use AA before Spybot. After cleaning up your system, immunize using spybot, after that run a virus scan(with the latest virus definitions obviously). If it doesn't pick up those processes, then they're probably just software you have installed. Some of them are Windows services, so don't go around deleting them until you're sure.
