Default What is the best audio player?

I heard alot of conterversity (sp?), and I was wondering, what is the best audio player?

I heard Music Match rocks, Real sucks, Windows Player is out of the question, etc.

I just was wondering what you all use. I only tried trial versions, so it isn't as much as the full versions.

I don't need the ram-hogging visual effects, like Windows has, but I need basically a ripper, player of many formats, a burner (if possible), and not one spotted with spyware...

Go speak your word, and Thanks in advance...

I also use Winamp. It is small and stable. I also like how IRC and MSG Plus have scripts so you can show other ppl what you are listening to in winamp.

I'd go with Winamp 5, personally. Winamp 2.91 is good too though. Whatever you do, don't get Winamp 3.

    ....anyway
/me runs from teh zombie one

well for playing I agree with the winamp choice (but if you want one with a little less interface and not so feature packed then coolplay uses barely any memory)

ripping I would say cdex is a good choice.

Burning is quite debatable, but nero isnt a bad choice for audio cd's.

edit: and none of these progs have spyware

Winamp 5.03 using the classic skin is great.

It's slow, especially if your computer isn't top notch

I agree with Ace, WA 5.03 is the best. If you feel that newer apps still hog your resources, then try WA 2.91. I haven't seen any noticeable slowdown on comps using WA2 skins. WA3 skins do slow you down a bit, but WA5 skins work fine, just not as fast as WA2 doesMM Jukebox totally eats your resources and locks up on the majority of machines Ive tried it on. WA rarely crashes on me, and it has all the other features any modern player has(shitload of skins and shapes, customization of the window, media library, artist info, bla bla bla).
    /me raises a NullSoft flag.

Winamp 5 is the best. I think that the global hotkeys are DAMN useful. Winamp 5 also has pretty decent mp3 ripping capabilities. And as with the old winamp there are plugins for just about any sound format you could possibly want.

By far the best music player hands down.
