Firefox, not only is the best browser as numerous people have said and will not get spyware or popups, but it is the fastest growing. 25 million downloads in 99 days. Hell yes. Hey avant, beat that!

The only thing I found wrong is that with firefox, when a website tries to install spyware, and firefox refuses to, it keeps trying and sometimes freezes it.

What's so good about Firefox growing fast? I can't see anything positive in it, but some negative, like malicious users trying to hack it more.

I'd personally recommend Adaware 6 Professional
    It's really good

I tried many of the programs on the first post of this thread. However, none of them seem to work properly on my computer. Ad-Aware act dumb when it come of deleting/quarantine stuff. Norton monopolize almost all my computer, so as it was a spyware itself... damn...

ad-aware will take a long time if you are using it to delete/quarentine more than 100 spyware/adwares at once...
have you tried spybot? or even MS anti spyware is actually rather nice

Personaly, I don't use any antivirus: it never prevent new viruses to enter my comp, all they do is to block me from using my comp how I want to...
AdAware + Spybot everyday is most of the time enpough to keep my comp clean. Once in a while, I'll scan it with an online free anti-virus (I use Panda).

But when things turns real bad (super trojan etc.) I have a simple yet powerfull solution that requires no program: disable xp's restore points (scary I know), reboot comp in safe mod, erase contents of temporary internet files and temp folders, and that for every profile on the comp.
I've slayed terribly anoying trojans/malwares, that no software would kill, with this method.

Now, all I miss is a good registry cleaner: could anyone adwise me one (free=better)?

Hmm. RegClean from MS. It's freeware, it's small (filesize),
it's good (not the best) and it creates a restore point to your registry.
And who can tell you more about registry than MS.

it seems that you havent found the proper one,use antivir and some giant antispyware, adaware and spybot i also recomend spyware blaster if you install all these programs it would be very dificult almost imposible that any virus will get into your comp, and with these programs you dont need to cease using various things in your comp

The absolute best reg cleaner that I know of is the one that I use which is Regcleaner 4.3 by Jouni Vuoro...you can get it here

    http://www.devionic.com/download/bac...t.php?link=145

This program has the ability to see ALL software installed on your PC and not just what is on the Add/Remove list in the Control Panel. It has lots of tools that you can play with and has a very user friendly interface...It also makes a backup of the registry entries that it removes so that if something happens to make your PC unstable, you can restore them quickly and easily

    Maybe...but I've tried several ones...
My point lies in the "sword and shield theory": when a new virus is hanging around the web, it takes some days before the anti virus get updated for it.
Anyway, I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to computer (even though I'm using those since ages_my first comp was my dad's apple IIc_), so I'm not going to argue...

Is it true that it will freezes when firefox refuse to install some spyware??
My firefox recently started to freeze even I'm trying to check in this forum. Plus I can't add/remove some bookmark of it so I started to use Opera and hope nothing bad happen to it...
