Default A brand new original anime... based on a Japanese movie classic.

I just read about this new anime when I was checking a FMA page. The anime is called Samurai 7, based on Akira Kurosawa's classic 50's film "7 Samurai". The anime is being made to commemorate the film's 50th anniversary. I'm downloading the trailer subbed by Anbu-AonE, which will also be fansubbing the series as it's released. You can check it out here: www.samurai-seven.com.
Edit: I just saw the trailer and it looks awesome. If you've seen the film, just picture it with a bunch of cool mechs thrown in. A must see.

If any more people butcher Kurosawa's work, I will seriously start stabbing you all in the face.

It looks really impressive, I'm trying to find the raw for the first episode(aired yesterday). Maybe I should just wait for AonE.
Oh yeah, a new series called Samurai Champloo already has 2 eps out(subbed by AonE), so any samurai fans should definately check that one out too.

It's not original is it's based off of another film.

You're starting to sound like Skinner.
The story is based off another film, but have you ever seen an futuristic anime with both mechs and samurai running around? That's what I meant from original, a break in the trend of animes that are coming out.

Funny, because I though mechs, samurai, and the future were the basis of virtually all anime.

And furthermore, I'll have you know that Skinner was copying ME.

outlaw star. to answer your question soeru. it had one big mech that i know about, and it did have twilight suzuka who was, in essence, a samurai.

True, but the anime wasn't focused on Suzuka/mechs.
Gospel: they are the basis of many animes, but rarely do we see a well done combination of 3 genres.
I just saw the first episode and damn is it cool. The characters look a bit similar to their real life counterparts too. I'll definately be d'ling this series as it comes out, Naruto is starting to get old(I know it gets better because of the manga, but it's developing so slowly recently).

when a manga is trasnlated into an actual show, it tends to take on a different feel. whether it be a plot speed or episode division. something was bound to change.

There was a game released a couple of months back called Seven samurai i wonder if it has any connection. Its does revolve around a world with robots.

Edit: Well whatdaya know it was based off the same thing. Heres the link to the game review which isnt rated too high.
