Default Why are my Atari 2600 files ".bin" while yours are ".a26"?

Did I download hacks of it, or was it just compiled differently? I'm using Stella for my ".bin" files, but it won't run the ".a26" files? Can you direct me to an emulator for this file type?

Also, how can I find a good emulator or bios (for mess) for the older goodsets?
