Default The Grand list of Role Playing game Cliches.

I came across this a while ago and I thought I'd share it with you guys. It's pretty funny in my opinion. http://www.project-apollo.net/text/rpg.html

Thanks. It was worth a read
The leader is never the idiot, rather the people who follow....

Page didn't wanna display itself...however I do believe I've seen it in the past. Kinda entertaining, but after about 100 entries gets rather boring.

    182. Adam Smith's Corollary
No matter how thoroughly devastated the continent/planet/universe is, there's always some shopkeeper who survived the end of the world and sits outside the gates of the villain's castle, selling the most powerful equipment in the game, like nothing ever happened. - That's my favorite one. :p

Some great stuff in this list, course they're are most likely exceptions to nearly everything, but who cares about that

Haven't read them all yet to have a favourite so far though I like:

    # Thinking With The Wrong Head (Hiro Rule)
No matter what she's accused of doing or how mysterious her origins are, the hero will always be ready to fight to the death for any girl he met three seconds ago.

    The entire section headed:
    # Hey, I Know You!

    Is great too.

Here is one. I don't know if it is mentioned, but here is what I always wonder about.

In a lot of cases the main character has been training for most of his life yet he usually starts out at level one. After a few battles you are already at like level 10 and a lot stronger then what you were.

Really cool. And the sad part is they're all true.

    Some are quite funny, however.

They missed the fact that in all the newer "better graphic" RPGs the main character usually looks like a girl

Just Nod Your Head And Smile
And no matter how big that big-ass sword is, you won't stand out in a crowd. Nobody ever crosses the street to avoid you or seems to be especially shocked or alarmed when a heavily armed gang bursts into their house during dinner, rummages through their posessions, and demands to know if they've seen a black-caped man. People can get used to anything, apparently.

    That one is funny.

    Another great one:
    # Law of Scientific Gratification
If the hero needs a new invention to progress, he will find out that somewhere in the world someone has spent his or her entire life perfecting this invention, and usually just needs one more key item located in a monster-infested dungeon before it is completed.

I'm just a lurker these days, I feel like an 80 year old gramps, watching his grand children play outside *sigh*
