Is my moniter shot or is it my graphics card

ok heres my problem every time i try to run my resoultion at 1024*768 my moniter gets darker and gets out of line the moniter is about 4 years old and the graphics card came with the dell i bought recently (christmas) plzz hel p if you can

uhhhhh yea thats your monitor going out....when you go to that res its trying to tell you it cannot handle it...that is too much for your monitor so keep it at 800x600....unfortunately your going to need a new monitor but fortunately you can purchase one off new egg for about 130bucks with shipoping...17 inch.

I also think that, the bigger the monitor, the bigger the resolution. Unless I'm mistaken.
