Bad/No Sound on Emulators

Two problems at once. First one:

I use ZSNES to emulates SNES. Well, it was working fine, and then all of a sudden I lost sound. Nothing. All my other sound (Winamp) works fine. I tried checking the sound menu, and sound is enabled. None of my SNES roms have sound. Any ideas?

Second one:

I use Visual Boy Advance 1.7.1 for my GBA stuff. Well, it has sound, but it sounds like crap. It's all gargly and staticy and stuff like that. A trip to the sound menu didn't fix anything. And, once again, it happens with all my GBA roms. Help?

check Direct X hasn't been downgraded by anything newly installed and for updates your sound drivers aswell

Upgraded DirectX, and now none of my emulators will work. Can't even get the emulators themselves to load up.

9.0b is the newest one

Edit: Now Winamp doesn't work. Neither does Super Jukebox.

??? and still no emu works now, when did you last update the emu's?

Check to see if they have been updated since you last looked.

EDIT:- you did reset after Direct X installed didn't you?

Winamp is working again, and so are the emulators. Either it was restarting, or getting rid of that damn download manager. Still no sound on ZSNES, and bad sound on VBA.

when i start getting that kind of trouble i found the best solution happens to be "format c:" and a fresh clean reinstall

Restarting done it for you, DirectX needs to reset your PC to install corectly

Hardly the best solution is it, seen as though he has solved the problem without formating and spending a few days getting everything back that he had before.

It might be an easy way out if you don't have a clue what you can do to fix a problem but not in this case.

Actually, they still have crappy sound. I'll just switch my GBA emulator for now.

VBA as in Visual Boy Advance I take it you were using?

If so check your sound settingas and see what method it's using, it may help it may not aswell.

Well i ususally dont have a clue so that what i do
ive gotten the reformat and reinstall down so i can install win98 and all the required programs (winrar, quicktime, stuff like that) in about 2 hours. It helps having a seperate partition for your OS and your other files

I have a 120 Gig HD with less than 20 gig free at the mo, so that would just be out of the question in my case but then again I can usually figure my own way round most any problem anyway.
