Default SNES gamepad to serial/parrallel/usb port?

I seem to have stumbled across my old Snes remains up in the attic, and found a snes controller with a cut & missing cable. I've been thinking, that instead i throw this away, i try to make use of it as a gamepad for my PC.

Does anyone know of any tutorials on how to do this, or what is needed, and if there are drivers available? (could just use default "Gamepad drivers" i guess?)

It will obviously involve some soldering, but that doesn't bother me

I looked at those pages and it looks pretty interesting, but can you still do it if the snes wire is cut? how do you know what wire is to what pin?

I know the standard colours for the pins.
