Default Best setting for Halo PC?

I have Halo for the Pc and I'm having problems with speed. It always seems to slow down when im fighting. It runs fine when im walking without any enemies around me. Any help?

    Specs:
    Windows XP Professional
    800MHz
    64MB Nvidia PCI Card
    320 RAM
    Sound Blaster Live Sound Card
    52X Mitsumi CD-ROM Drive
    8/4/32 Plexwriter CD-R Drive

(Have mercy on me. My PC is 3 years old now. ^^)

You need to run at 640x480. You just about have the minimun requirements. I haven't played Halo for PC, but if you can lower some of the texture and lighting settings I would do that also.

set pixel shading to version 1.1,

on your shortcut to Halo, right click and go to properties, add

    -use11

at the end of the field marked "target"

it should look similar to this

    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\halo.exe" -use11

that should speed you up significantly

Halo PC frickin sucks. Not because of poor gameplay, it just runs like shit. I've tried all that crap befor and it still runs like shit at the lowest settings.

I think M$ did a very quick port over without really optimizing it any just for a quick buck.

Microsoft were not the ones doing the port, they were the publishers.

But Microsoft still sucks!! And yes, it's better when you play Halo on the X-Box
I'm just a lurker these days, I feel like an 80 year old gramps, watching his grand children play outside *sigh*

how can you say that?! Halo is at least 5X better on the Pc, its just the tweaking of the settings that is frustrating, once that's sorted, its an awesome game... plus theres online play instead of crappy 1v1 splitscreen...

    Halo wasn't a quick port .

Halo was one of the first games made for the xbox using a very specific SDK that doesn't even run if you compile it with the new SDK. It's a wonder they managed to port it at all.
