My PSX Broke down.
Well, heres the deal. I basically played on my PSX for 12 hours without pausing. (I know im stupid) And now it wont boot anymore. And if it boots it hangs just as quickly... This happened a year ago, and i havent played it since. Now a couple of days ago i tried starting it, but it still hangs.... So now i wanna know what i have to change? You people think it is enough to simply change the laser? Or do i have to buy a new PSX? A laser costs about 100 $ and a new PSX costs me about 180 $ so there is a pretty big difference.

Is that all? I played my PSX more than that and I still got mine
And your best off just buying a PS2, or, if you play copied games, just buy a new PSX
And $180 for a PSX!? Where from?

Try bying a PS2, or a new PSX (or the smaller PS-One). There isn't many shops who fixes lasers anymore, but you can try CD-Cleaner-Discs, or Q-Tips (be careful) to wipe off some dust of the laser-lens.

Q-tips and CD-cleaners help - for a while. Then my PSX keeps hanging. I have the last version of the usual PSX (Model 9002 or something)

Thats really expensive for a PSOne, a good idea would be to import it for yourself from somewhere. Try ebay =D

Its not good for the laser if you use cheap CD's, as the laser then has to do extra work to read the data on them. Burning games at high speed could make a difference, but the main danger is finding that the data has been corrupted, or that you get a 'bad burn' of a CD.
As for replacing the hardware, well, the prices of pre-chipped PS2's are getting gradually lower, and what with the capability of playing copied PSX and PS2 games you will definately get your moneys worth.
Touch my twat.

I'm with Deach on what is multiX?
A brand new PS1 in the US costs around $50. I new PS2 with network adapter and ATV Offroad Fury 2 ( a very good game) costs around $200. You could also buy a new PS2 without the network adapter and without the game for about $180.

Hehehehehe, I did that to mine. But it was more like, 12 hours a day for about 2 years. Best bet would be a new PSone but I have no idea what a multiX is...
