    Default linux question

okay, I'm currently running Gentoo Linux and I've been using gftp to upload all my stuff to the net,

earlier today whenever I try and log onto my ftp it gets stuck at recieving file names...

now I know there isn't something with my ftp cause I can open and edit it fine in konquerer and *shudder* IE

    any help would be appreciated

    thanks in advance ^^

Now, I know basically nothing about Linux but I suggest getting a different client for FTP access.. have you tried doing that?

Sometimes linux progs get "stuck" when reading file names with funny charecters or spaces in them, try replacing spaces with _ and removing and funny charecters that might be causing conflicts.

strange characters in your filenames are never a god thing. But last time I had linux installed I had a variety of ftp clients. Maybe finding a replacement or too will do the trick.

The only one I remember the name of is iglooftp, under gentoo. To compile the latest one specifically for your pc type:

    emerge iglooftp

and that should do it assuming they have it on thier database. Gentoo is sheer beuty, I aplaud your fine choice of OS.

I've been using gFTP for my linux FTP needs, it works very well for me.
