Solaris, the country in the sky. It's inhabitants are the -Abel-, or shepherds, to the earth-dwelling -Lambs-...

Also an OS from Sun Microsystems...

OMFG...computer nerds that don't know and love Solaris...Solaris is Sun Microsystem's custom OS designed for their SPARCstation series of PC's; it can be modified to run on AMD or Intel systems. Solaris is custom built to your specifications, they install it, and it works perfectly. No crashes at all. If a program does a divide by zero, it modifies it to divide by 1x10-10000...it's a wonderful system, better than 'nix, even. It's even 1/5th the cost of Window$, being in the range of $100 for a single license on x86. It's worth it, I think, though not many people agree with me.

Thanks, jerome...that rocks. I'm going to d/l it, then put it on my comp...are you using it?
Also, on top of all that, Norgus...it's Linux-based, so you can run all of your 'nix stuff within it, and still get the benefits of Solaris.
No i havent tryed it yet, I might tho. I've wanted to tryout FreeBSD also someday.
Let me know how it is.

Solaris is developed for:
1) Sun SPARCstations and servers
2) Sun x86 stations and servers
3) Intel & AMD based systems
All three are separate programs, as Suns CPU's are much more complex than Intel or AMD...a Sun Fire server with a 1.2ghz SPARC III chip is almost twice as fast as a Xeon board.
