    128 ram
    ....
    and some more outdated stuff

    but i dunno what
so i thought i guy might know
    i've got a budget of 680 euro = 650 dollars (i think)
i'm aware that it's not much but it is the best i can afford

what i really need in the computer is Dvd-combo reader and a normal CDRW-writer
i was also thinking about the lines of 2 gHz
and a realitve good grafic card

You won't be able to get a 2 gig box for that little money, even if it didn't have a burner.

Okay I'm using some quick aprox with 1 euros = 1.5NZD. Which gives 1020.

    DVD Combo will cost ~200
GF FX 5200 will cost ~300
512 mb ram will cost ~200
    NForce2 motherboard will cost ~300
    Athlon @ 2.4 ghz will cost ~150

    Total ~ 1150 = ~ 767 Euros

So I suggest getting one stick of 256mb DDR now and getting another later. Also dropping down to about 2ghz. Other than that you should be able to do it. If you have a combo you won't need a CD-RW.

I would get 2 seperate drives, one DVD-ROM and one CD-RW. It makes copying disks MUCH faster and easyer BTW. I think it might be cheaper that way too.

Wait, Don't get a FX5600, get a FX5700 as they are built from the FX5950 core and not the older one, if you can get one. As they beform well above the GF4 4200.
