    Default FamiCom games on my NES?

    I was going through a bunch of auctions and found one that said this:

    For 8-bit Famicom system: This game will also play on the US NES/8-bit Nintendo system with a 60 to 72 pin adapter

    Genre: RPG

    Language: Japanese

    Year of Release: 1986
    Now, I was wondering: can you actually play FamiCom games on an NES, or is this guy bullshitting me so I can buy his game? (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...category=11030)

    If you know, tell me. It's interesting.

    [ edit ] Ohhh... I read it wrong. My fault. I missed the "adapter" portion of it.

    you are not being bullshitted, because famicom is the nes's real name. You may be thinking of super famicom games which are super nintendo games.

    famicom=nes
    super famicom=snes

    to my knowlage that is how it goes anyway.

    Famicom uses a 60-pin connector
    NES uses a 72-pin connector.

    That's my understanding of it. Also, the cartridges for the Famicom are too small to fit into a side-loaded NES. By the way, "Famicom" is just the Japanese name, but it uses a completely different set-up.

    I think that you should be able to play the game if they make the adapters.

    They do have the adaptors, somewhere, I've just never seen them before. Perhaps a search on eBay would prove prosperous; I'm really not all that interested if it means another appliance for me to purchase to add-onto my NES.

    I saw a site that showed how to make yourself such an adaptor. Pretty cool stuff.
