Unhappy Trouble with Rise of Nations

I just got Rise of Nations last night and installed it installed without any difficulties. I started it up and it ran fine. But now when I try to run it, it just shows the splash screen thingy, switches into fullscreen, waits on a black screen for a few seconds then minimizes . When I reinstall it, it runs fine for the first time but then after it's messed up again.

I dont think it's got anything to do with my system specs... but just in case:

    AMD Athlon 1.3GHz
    512MB RAM
    2 HDDs 40GB + 20GB
    GeForce 2 MX ( )
    Windows ME

erm... anything else u need to know, just ask .

PS: I know my GF2MX is shite, im currently looking to get something new. I saw a Radeon 9600 pro, i think, for 120 (probably wait until christmas for that)... or a FX5200 (50?)... I'm basically looking for something quite cheap cuz anything'll be better than what i've got... I read somewhere that the 9600 is good value or somethin... Anyone reccomend one of them?

Well I would recommend changing OS
    ME is baaad, mkay
And I woudn't really recommend the GeforceFX 5200
I got it some weeks ago....and it isn't really much better than my Geforce3 TI200 :\
So I would go for the Radeon 9600
Or get a Radeon 9500 pro, and if you are lucky you can probably flash it to get it equal to a Radeon 9700

But as for the game trouble I would recommend changing to another OS......might sound a bit extreme but...ME is horrible and some more horrible at best....
but else than that I don't really know

I think i've got it working now .

I downloaded the latest patch... (im stoopid and didn't realise there had been any released)

And now it kinda works... but I have to use the cd's auto-load menu to start it otherwise it doesn't work...

    How much do FX5700s cost?
