Simple question: Do you hate IE the browser or IE the webbrowser engine?
Try www.crazybrowser.com . It's decent and does the job.

    well first and foremost..
thank you both for your help..
i have decided to use crazy browser..
    and it is doing well..

    as for riff's question..
it's the program itself that i abhor..
it's ugly, slow, and it has no pop-up control..

I have been curious about the two browsers mentioned here because my IE isn't doing everything it is supposed to.
What are the pros and cons of opera and crazy browser?

    Pros for Crazybrowser:
    Small download
    Uses IE renderer
    pop-up killer
    javascript error suppressor
    Cons: Uses IE renderer

    Opera pros:
Not many virii written specificly for it.
    Cons: Larger download
    CSS isn't always handled correctly

I have a few more questions.
What are virii? did you mean viruses?
what is CSS and what does it do?
Does opera have a popup killer and if so which of the two browsers has a better popup killer?
And finally, are either of these free? By free I mean free as in not a trial that is either going to expire or nag me everytime I open the browser.

Opera isn't free...but the trial never ends. But they display a banner in the trial.

I'd reccommend Avant Browser It's pretty awesome, has pop-up blocker, and works fast. And it isn't dull like IE.

crazy browser is also pretty fast as far as dl'ing the pages you browse..
i didn't try the opera because of the ad in the browser thing..
kazaaLite has a pretty fast browser as well..
but i've only used it here so i don't know about pop-ups..

Ok, so the main thing that is messing up in IE for me is anything java just won't display and getting new plugins doesn't help. or when I want to stream a video that opens in WMP every instance of the browser crashes and I have to reactivate my active desktop. Is getting crazy browser going to fix that? I ask because it uses the same core.
Oh yeah, and I asked this before but is it free? I am guessing it probably is since guu didn't want to pay for opera to remove the banner ad.

    Virii = Virusses.
    CSS = Cascade Stylesheet system.

Java won't work because your using XP and you need to download it. And crazybrowser probably won't stop the crashes, however at a 600kb download it's always worth trying it out.

ummm, where did you hear that I was using XP? I never use XP. In fact I despise XP but have heard good things about 2K which is like XP without the extra junk.

I use 98se. So, what are the answers to my questions now? Oh yeah, and if crazy browser won't fix that then will opera fix the problems I listed earlier?

Na it's more likely theres deeper problems thatn just the browser. It sounds like ActiveX controls have gone wrong as well as other stuff. Opera might fix it but it'd be like putting a band-aid on a gaping sore.

As far as I am concerned, Mozilla (or Firebird) is the best browser there is. Compared to IE, it is faster, it has popup control, it has a skinning system, CSS and text in general is scalable, it has the tab system (very convenient), an excellent search feature, and there are other features I could continue on about. I would not have changed if I were you, trelimb.

There are only a few things that IE handles better than Mozilla and those are Javascript, HTML table formatting, and some SSI.

Mozilla was also chosen as PC Magazine's '2002 Browser of the Year'.
