how do I run Atari 800 on a mac

I have been trying to run an emu fo atari 800 on my imac but just get a message saying something like 'you need the actual OS to run'. I downloaded some ROM packs but can't figure anything out from there. Please Help! Dying to play seven cities of gold!

just a suggestion for the future. NEVER BUY A MAC AGAIN. a lot of ppl (including some of my friends) were tricked into buying iMacs and most of them hate them.

Gee, thanks for your insight. After working with both Macs and PCs at home and work for the last 16 years, I'll still always have an Apple product at home. Now, if anyone would be able to actually ANSWER my question... I would appreciate it.
