Default poll about computers and how much radiation they give off

do u think that computers give off so much radiation that one could get cancer and/or get a sickness, or die? that is what this poll is about. my parents only give me 2 freaking hours a day on the pc cause my mom thinks that it is true. she keeps reading all these BS health magazines that aren't even true. So please tell me what you think

I would think not.. the Computer dose give off some radiation, you are able to see light that your screen gives off after all and light is a form of radiation, but the radiation given off by your computer dose not have a high enought frecquecy(SP?) to give you cancer for the most part... at least i dont think so.

Its yet more media nonsense set to scare the masses, a la BSE, Salmonella, mobile phones and Micheal Barrymore. The media likes nothing more than to latch onto a story such as this - one with wide hitting implications (after all, who nowadays doesnt use a moniter?) - and blow it all out of proportion. Scare mongering they call it, and bloody good source material for all those lawsuits we can expect against anybody who has ever made a moniter ever, ever.

Heh, remember the days of 'Nintendo made my son a killer'? No love, a complete breakdown of sanity made your son a killer, Nintendo just kept him entertained in the interim.

My God, that was cynical, even for me...:\

A moniter gives off radiation so does a TV, microwave oven, the sun, etc...

I've never heard of any one getting cancer from a moniter.

Bull shit. You'd have to spend astronimical ammounts of time exposed to it to have anything happen. (at least I hope so...)

That right there is basically the reasoning for a lot of media stunts such as this. Remember the article about "my son is a hacker", and one of the ways to tell was that he wanted to switch to Linux and he was on Quake a lot? I'm not sure if that's a joke or if someone actually thought that, but it's ridiculous enough in itself.

Basically, they're crasping for a reason for something. Perhaps someone somewhere got cancer from some radiation thing and it was found he was on the computer a lot. Wow. I like TV, does that make me a couch potato? If I'm particularly fond of having an erection, am I suddenly a sex addict? Don't answer that last one.

Dunno what this is. I just came upstairs to see if anyone interesting was online.

Heh heh, that sounds about right

Lets face it, like everything in life moderation is the key here. It is not going to be healthy for anyone to sit for hours upon hours in front of a computer screen, much in the same way that masturbating makes you go blind.

    ...

Dont take me seriously on that last point, dont want to starve you testosterone fuelled people of anything, you dirty perishing rascals

    There's nothing wrong with it...

But I think that over the years we'll gradually build up a resistance to radiation because we're constantly exposed to very small amounts of it. Over millipons of years, but still possible . So we might end up like cockroaches...
