Spoiler warning:
I've had an arc welder for years They're so cheap there's no reason not to have one imo. Same story for a chainsaw, 4x4 and at least one trailer (no, not a caravan).
Without those basic things you're relying on other people you know... or worse; have to pay people to do stuff.
Mig; my brother in law has one.
Spoiler warning:
Probably not a bad idea to pick one up. I haven't welded anything in a long time though.
One of my trailers is pretty old, I mean nearly as old as me Has a cage on it and every now and then I have to fix up the mesh on it, welds get broken from throwing wood in it all the time.
I don't use the arc constantly but it does get used fairly regularly I guess.
Spoiler warning:
Yeah using some electronics contact spray is the first thing you try. Or if you only have IPA then dump some in there and try to sort it out.
Sometimes it's simple wear though and pulling the stick apart to fix it might sound like a good idea but putting them back together right is a pain... which is why you can buy replacement sticks.
The replacements generally aren't top quality though, so the fix board is the cheaper way to get a genuine stick working properly again.
Spoiler warning:
There's a trailer sitting in our yard which I should probably get cleared out and see if it can be salvaged before the ground eats it .
That was why I never bothered getting a replacement for one of my PSPs. It could be made tolerable with a plugin and I lived with it until I got others. Same with a Sixaxis with the first PS3. Total replacement almost always ends up being cheaper than 'parts' controllers or whatever because people are nuts here .
An ok soldering iron isn't really expensive. I mean you can buy Chinese hakko t12 clones and they're fine (I have one).
I'm not an expert at soldering now, I was much better when I was younger. So now if I have a project I spend a little time practising on scrap electronics before I tackle a serious job.
Spoiler warning:
I have a Hakko station that sits in its box most of the time.
starting to get burned out on lego starwars. I also have to dust but I just don't feel like it(though I have been putting it off)
