Static IP is better for games, for starters. Also necessary for private torrent trackers.
Dynamic is good for changing IP to get around data limits but that's about it. What security reasons?

Pretty much. Prior to this IPs were assigned based on MAC. They're sticking everyone (presumably) behind another NAT now. They do their best to avoid directly answering simple questions or redirecting you to someone that might. It's possible their phone software has a setting for it but "for an additional $5 per month per feature" I'd rather buy a static IP for $10 and let them shove their router DLC somewhere.

They also lie about stuff like "needing" their router. I left mine in place during the change; the installer didn't care and it's not a real problem (predictably).

Very. I'll find out tomorrow if I'll be able to resolve things with a static IP. I hope they don't expect people to pay $10 more per month to pointlessly keep an IP that's still double natted.

was playing a game called driftmoon recently I just finished it the other day. it's a mediocre generic point and click rpg it wasn't bad but it was too short and pretty easy maybe a little too easy(that's usually something I don't complain about.
also started playing soldier of fortune the other day I forgot how old the game was and thought the platinum edition was like a remastered edition, it's a decent game not as stealthy as I was expecting though.
kinda want to play splinter cell 1 again since I never did get very far into that game.

I get the feeling that one of the companies I got estimates from doesn't want the job . Quoted me over 10k when another was around 4 .

    What job?
Sometimes quotes can vary greatly because one lot are cowboys and the other are professionals that actually do things properly... and clean up afterwards. But yeah, that is a huge difference.

Their quote for the pole was along the lines of the other two. There are way too many "might go over/overtime this/doesn't include/etc" in their estimate as well.
