I would have thought it'd still be the same method.

Glad you managed to sort it.

I used Windows 7 for years and only upgraded to 10 when I had to. I'm on Win11 now. If it has anything going for it, being able to run linux graphical apps is nice/fun through WSL. Its possible to get a linux desktop going, sorta, but with a lot of steps and workarounds involved.

Rage quit Callisto Protocol at the final boss fight
I'll give another go some other day, just need a break from it now so I'm playing Witcher 3.

When (or if) I move along I intend to migrate to Linux.

I have W10 on a laptop and once I got it suitably set up it's been alright. The task manager changes are the only ones I've found useful.

decided to try metro 2033 yesterday. the frame-rate was so low on my pc that it took minutes just to load the main menu even after adjusting the video settings to low I could still barely navigate the menu
I also finished a game called turning point fall of liberty a fairly new fps that ran surprisingly well on my dinosaur I did get heavy frame drops at times(a lot during heavy action sections or with lots of smoke). it was a pretty good game a little short and it could have used a save or quick save feature. Going to be checking out afterfall insanity edition today.

The changes to task manager is one of the strengths of Win 10/11.

Forced blob updates is a major annoyance. Once I got those turned off it's been acceptable.

I did and it's not what I was expecting. I thought it was going to be an fps but it's not, after I started it I thought it was going to be a fallout 3 style game but it's not that either. The game is more like RE4 meets dead space with a bit of doom 3 it's pretty cool but lacks a proper save feature it auto saves at checkpoints which makes it really hard to break away from it.
The weird thing is it was an EU only release I didn't know about that until I had to look up a guide to get through a puzzle(I didn't find a guide just a post on gamefaqs about the puzzle)the only way to really solve some of the puzzles is sheer luck as you really don't get any tips or help with solving them.

To its credit or maybe discredit, lol. Windows 11 does have tabs in the file browser now as does notepad. Of course I think Linux had those features since the early or mid 2000s. no I'm not boasting about Win 10/11, they're still nothing compared to Win 7, but I digress.

x360 xenon/zephyr 203w PSU arrived so I booted up the old bare xenon (2006-08-05) I got recently.
    Works fine. Dashboard is 2.0.9199.0
Now to add a spare HDD I have laying around...
