burn svcds with nero

i have avi file and i want to watch it on vcd player and i have nero with svcd mpeg plugin.
do i just burn it as "svcd" or "vcd"? i don't know the different between the two.
also, do i have to convert it to mpeg first before i'm able to burn it?

first of u need to turn it into mpeg before u can do that

second there is a difference between a divx avi and an xvid avi when it comes to conversion

yeah..just found out using dvd2svcd is pretty good

i use to use TMPGEnc but it didnt work with XviD which happens to be how stuff is distributed now
